Programs for Newcomers

We offer FREE Programs and resources specific to educating newcomers and enhancing job search skills through funding made availalbe by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. These programs are designed to assist newcomers successfully integrate into the Canadian workforce!

Ready to Work Program

Designed to assist newcomers who have been assessed with a CLB level of 4-10 the opportunity to develop and enhance their tourism and hospitality skills, English vocabulary and awareness of the Canadian work culture and environment.  The program will cover the essential knowledge, attitudes, and skills for a career in Canada’s Tourism and Hospitality sector.

Computer and Worplace Skills Training

We are offering “Computer and Workplace Skills Training” (formerly Newcomers Enhancing Employability and Awareness) sessions to newcomers with a CLB level 3+ at NO COST! These sessions offer the essential skills needed to help you succeed in the Canadian job market.

English Classes (LINC)

Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) are English classes designed to assist newcomers who are interested in learning English as a Second Language who are permanent residents and have not yet received their Canadian Citizenship.  LINC instruction is based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks and covers, speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. The UHC's provides classes from CLB Level 1 to CLB Level 7.

SETTLEMENT Worker

One-on-one assistance to help newcomers to settle in their new home (housing, education, health care, finances, forms, applications, employment, credentials, etc.)
Available languages: Arabic, English, French

Connecting Newcomer Youth (ages 15-24)

For newcomer youth ages 15-24 to develop food literacy skills through Let’s Make a Meal! Learn how to cook in our state of the art Community Kitchen! Take home a meal that you made! Make new friends! Develop community connections with Canadian community members!

Orientation Workshops

A series of workshops designed to bring awareness about specific topics for newcomers to Ontario including: Orientation to Ontario, Obtaining a Driver’s License in Ontario, etc.

Care for Newcomer Children

On-site care for newcomer children is available for those ages 19 months to 6 years for parents participating in our newcomer programs (minumum 4-weeks registration).
