Description:
Call dispatch by 5pm to get loads for the following day; Comply with scheduled appointments given by dispatch and activities; Comply with various moving permits; Maintain an up-to-date authority binder; Operate and drive trucks, weighing over 4600kg with 3 or more axles to transport material weighing up to 90,000 lbs. to various destinations; Transport materials over mainly highways and a range of urban and short interurban routes; Understand cargo securement regulations in Canada and the United States; take responsible and deliberate action to secure cargo properly; Perform pre-trip inspections according to legislation/regulations and oversee all aspects of the vehicle’s conditionQualifications:
- Certification from recognized Truck Driving School; Class A driver's license; Air brake endorsement (Z); Defensive Driving Course; Computer Literate; Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance; Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities; Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques; High level of personal integrity; Strong work ethic; Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations; Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; Confident, consistent decisive personality; Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
