Ready to Work Program
In order to participate in this program, you must be:
CLB Level 4+, 18 years and older, Permanent Resident or a Convention Refugee.
The Ready to Work program is an 8-week program offered at no cost to you. Here you will gain the skills and certifications needed to work in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry! This industry offers a wide range of job opportunities, including attractions, food service, retail, customer service, events, recreation, and so much more.
This program includes:

Industry-specific classroom training

Workplace communication training

Specialized 1-1 job search assistance

Computer skills and cash handling training

Hands-on culinary skills training

Commercial kitchen equipment training

Worker Health and Safety Awareness – 4 steps

Canada’s new polymer note training – Avoiding

counterfeit bills

Participants graduate with 3 certificates:

- Service Excellence
- Food Safety (MFS)
- Smart Serve

Support Available:

Child-minding is available onsite for children 19 months – 6 years (except July and August)

Transportation support (bus pass or bus cards)

Laptop for use throughout the duration of the program

Emotional support counselling
Eligibility:

This course is for those who are 18 years or older

Requires a Canadian Language Benchmark of level 4 or higher
NOTE: The UHC – Hub is Opportunities is on the Ottawa 4 Bus route and brings you right to the front door!
Sessions are offered 4 times (Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall) for 8 weeks and run Monday – Friday: 9:00 am – 3:30 pm
