Laser Cutting Machine Operator

Description:
To run both flat (2D) and tube (3D) CNC laser cutting machines. This role also supports general shop activities including housekeeping, basic maintenance, material preparation, and unloading and sorting finished parts. The ideal candidate is organized, works well in a team, and is adaptable, with a focus on supporting production efficiency and throughput. Set up and operate laser cutting programs daily; Adjust laser parameters such as alignment, head and nozzle changes, lens cleaning, and cutting speeds to ensure high-quality parts at the best possible efficiency; Prepare and stage raw materials; load and unload finished components; Diagnose issues and carry out preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and scrap; Accurately document completed jobs, scrap, laser issues, and other required production records; Inspect parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers) and complete inspection documentation; Keep the work area clean and organized; Count, verify, and assist with preparing completed orders for shipment or transfer to other departments; Monitor gas supply, beam usage, consumables, and scrap levelsQualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year experience operating laser cutting equipment; Proficient in inspecting laser-cut components using verniers, micrometers, and tape measures; Forklift experience, including propane cylinder exchange, is an asset; Experience with overhead cranes preferred; Strong commitment to health and safety; Reliable attendance and punctuality; Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; Comfortable working in a team-based environment; Must be fluent (reading and writing) in English; Physical and Handling Requirements: Regular lifting, carrying, bending, twisting, and pulling of materials; Ability to stand for at least 8 hours per shift; Must wear required personal protective equipment in accordance with company policy, including safety glasses, gloves, and CSA-approved steel-toed footwear
